Our 3rd Saturday opening is a collection of lively paintings that were created to reduce stress, play and get messy! All of the paintings were created in a class called Art Aerobics where each week painters finish a painting in 40 to 50 minutes. What the heck is Art Aerobics? We turn up the tunes and paint FAST to music. We let the music move us to play with color and shape at an aerobic pace and get our creative heart beating through paint. We even throw and splatter paint as well as sing-a-long when the mood strikes.

Art Aerobics is also an opportunity to dance with our critic if it arrives. We learn to ask for specificity from our critic, not taking it’s general statements like, “You don’t know what you are doing, that is awful.” Instead asking “What exactly is it you don’t like? Is it the color, the shape, the line?” When we can get specific, we can make changes. And, if we can’t get specific we can get out our frustration with permission to throw, splatter, scrap and scratch, or deconstruct our painting and turn it into something else. All levels participate from beginners to advanced painters. De-stress and leave with a unique painting.

We often say we don’t have time to do art, this body of work shows what is possible in 40 – 50 minutes!
