Gaviota Wind Caves Trail Project (Not a hike)

Details

The Gaviota Wind Caves trail is one of the most popular hiking trails at Gaviota State Beach. It is also becoming one of the most overgrown, so we need your help. Come help us clear brush and repair some trail tread to make this trail more hiker friendly.

All trail volunteers must wear sturdy boots, long pants, eye protection (such as sunglasses) and we would recommend wearing a long sleeve shirt. If you have a bicycle or climbing helmet and gloves or your personal trail tools, bring them. We will also be providing helmets, gloves, tools and training. Starting at 8:00 am we will have a safety talk and brief tool training before hiking to the work site. This project will require two to four miles of hiking with moderate elevation gain.

All volunteers will be treated to a delicious FREE lunch after our work is completed to reward you for your efforts.

Potential Hazards Include: Poison Oak, rattlesnakes, ticks, heat exhaustion and dehydration. Please come prepared by wearing appropriate clothing and bring sufficient water and electrolyte mix.

Final note: We all love our dogs, but dogs are not allowed on this trail project.
