Visualizations in R

Hello all,

I'm happy to announce our next R user group meetup has been scheduled!

Agenda

Our theme for this meeting will be visualizations in R. We have two talks planned so far:

Visualization in R: An Introduction to ggplot2, Frank Davenport

Transparency in R Plots: Watercolor Plots, Garrett Glasgow

I might also give a short presentation on the status of Hadley Wickham's r2d3 package, which (if all goes according to plan) will allow R users to convert their R plots to interactive javascript graphs using the d3.js library. Hadley Wickham is the author of the well-known ggplot2 package that Frank will be presenting, and is highly regarded in the R community. As of now r2d3 is still in development, but we can dream ...

If anyone else is interested in giving a presentation on visualization in R, please let me know, and I'll add you to the list.

As with the last meeting, we'll meet at 6pm, start the talks around 6:30pm, and wrap up around 8pm.

Venue

Our next meeting will take place downtown at RightScale HQ. Note that since this is an active workplace we'll need to be sure to stick to our designated meeting room, and not wander into other areas without being escorted by someone from RightScale. Jim McGaw will explain the ground rules at the start of the meeting.

Food

RightScale has a fridge with soda and other drinks, and cabinets full of snacks. People are welcome to those. Let me know if we should coordinate something else, such as pizza delivery, and I'll get to work on that.
