Icehouse Canyon to Ontario Peak

Details
Description: From the trailhead we follow an alder shaded stream past small cabins. Huge big cone Douglas Fir, cedars, and live oak trees cluster on the banks of the stream. After Columbin Spring the trail climbs through a pine forest to Icehouse Saddle. The saddle is a nice place to rest. Many trails take off in different directions from here. We will take the trail to Kelly's Camp and Ontario Peak. Along the trail we hike in a forest. We will stop for a rest at Kelly's Camp, once a mining camp in 1905, trail resort in 1922, and a wilderness campsite now. After resting we will climb to the top of Ontario Peak at 8693'. Enjoy the superb view and return the way we came.
