The mountain lion (also known as cougar, puma, panther and catamount) is a specially protected mammal in California. Come learn about basic mountain lion biology, behavior, common myths, misconceptions, general safety tips for the public and first responders.

Robin Park’s consideration for law enforcement officers and animal control officers is a passion of his. As first responders to cougar incidents, his and the Mountain Lion Foundation’s ultimate goal is to see everyone goes home, including the mountain lion.

Robin Parks is a San Diego resident. He retired from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) in 2004 after a 25-year career in federal law enforcement. A lifelong admirer of the great cats, he began doing volunteer work at animal sanctuaries in 1999. That is when he first encountered captive mountain lions. This later led him to the Mountain Lion Foundation (MLF) where he has been a field volunteer on several projects.
