Orienteering is a sport for everyone, regardless of age or experience. The goal is to find our way to various locations using a map and compass and land marks. This is not a race. The pace will be slow. The goal is learn how to find your way to the specified destination using map and compass. Participation will show you more about Orienteering than any words. Any compass will be OK for this event, but if you don't have one yet, get a mountaineering or orienteering compass like the one depicted above available at any sporting goods store.

Meet in the Vasquez Rock parking lot at 9 AM From Santa Clarita go North on CA-14 toward Palmdale for about 12.5 mi Take exit 15 for Agua Dulce Canyon Rd Turn left onto Agua Dulce Canyon Rd, Go 1.9 mi The road makes a 90 right turn and becomes Escondido Canyon Rd. Continue onto Escondidohttp://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/3/9/0/event_78041872.jpeg Canyon Rd for .6 miles Turn right into the Vasquez Rocks park, turn left on the dirt road and follow this all the way to the end where you will see a porta-potty and a green metal bar fence.
