Micro-trash Clean up for the Condors on Bear Divide.
Micro-trash consists of little bits and pieces of glass, metal and plastic. The Condors are attracted to these items because they sparkle and shine. They eat it, and feed it to their chicks. Both the adults and chicks die. In the last 5 years, we have picked up more than 5,000 lbs of micro-trash in the forest. But people keep tossing trashhttp://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/a/5/8/event_124259992.jpeg and breaking or shooting bottles, and the condors keep eating it. We need your help to keep the forest clean and the condors safe. We will be working on Bear Divide, which is above Sand Canyon in Canyon Country, in the Angeles National Forest. This is your chance to help the environment and the condors! We will meet at Bear Divide Picnic Area at 8:00 and work until 12:00.
Directions: Take the SR-14 North to the Sand Canyon exit. Exit, turn right if you’re going North. (Turn left on Sand Canyon if you’re going South). Pass all of the houses and enter into the Angeles National Forest. (You will see a sign on the right when you enter the forest) After you enter the forest, You will go up hill and continue up up up for approximately 3 miles. Continue all the way up the hill to Bear Divide Road. There will be no street sign. http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/6/6/5/0/event_59546192.jpegLook for a sign that says, “Bear Divide Ranger Station”. Turn right. Immediately on your right is Bear Divide Picnic Area. If you start going http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/6/4/5/2/event_59545682.jpegdown hill, you’ve gone too far. We will meet at the Bear Divide Picnic Area sharply at 8:00 AM. And leave for our clean up location.
