Los Pinetos to Wilson Saddle

HAPPY NEW YEAR

This is our annual New Year’s Day hike up Los Pinetos Trail across the Santa Clarita Canyons to Wilson Canyon Saddle. This is a tough to moderate 10 mile hike with 1000’ gain. If it is clear, the views can be spectacular. You might be able to see the PV Penninsula and Catalina!! Take your time recovering from your New Year’s Eve, and watching the Rose Parade. This hike will start later in the day to help you ease into 2013. Total mileage is 8.

Meet at the Walker Ranch Trail Head at 10:00, to leave the trail head at 10:15.

Bring water, lunch, camera, snacks, and hiking poles (if you have them).

Directions: Exit the SR-14 Freeway, turn right. Go for about 4 miles. You will see a wooden sign and a turn out. The sign will say: Walker Ranch Trail head. Park in the turn out. This is where you will meet. Parking is free.

Christine, this is a signal track trail most of the hike. There is a dirt road at the top.

Sylvia, Manzanita is tough for anybody. This trail is one of the nicest trails in Placerita, but does have a far amount of uphill. Bud, members have brought dogs on our hikes before, but I don't know the Nature Center policy.

Not familiar with your policy regarding dogs (on leash, of course). I have a friendly German Shepherd. Can I bring him?

Is it a trail or paved road?
