Whitney Canyon to the Waterfall
This is a great local, easy hike. It’s perfect for beginners, seniors and kids! It is a http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/1/7/5/3/event_7685971.jpegtotal of just under 5 miles RT with very little gain.
There are some stream crossings, and a little rock hopping, and a couple of small hills. This canyon goes from Santa Clarita Open Space into the Angeles National Forest. It is a gorgeous hike where we often see deer. We’ll http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/b/2/0/event_105619232.jpegvisit an area frequented by animals by a sulfur spring and a 10’ waterfall.
Bring your camera, poles if you have them, a snack to have by the waterfall and water!
Meet at the Park and Ride at the end of Newhall Avenue (just past the SR-14 freeway) at 8:15 for an 8:30 departure. Park in the Park and Ride for free, or park in the MRCA lot for $7.00.
Directions: From the I-5 Freeway, take the SR-14 freeway to Newhall Avenue. EXIT. You can either go straight or you can turn right on the off ramp. Turn right. When you get to the bottom of the offramp, turn right. The park and ride is RIGHT THERE! Your leader will meet you at the green MRCA gate which is at the top of the park and ride, and to the left. Look for the MRCA sign.
