Remembering the Ventana & Other Great Stories with editor & author Debbie Bulger

Mountain climber and environmental activist, Debbie will take us on a journey remembering The Ventana.  Debbie Bulger, editor of The Ventana, the award-winning magazine, dedicated 15 years from 1997 through 2011 editing the Ventana magazine. Many people around the Monterey Bay appreciate her wise and humorous story telling and profoundly miss the Ventana's environmental forum and news.

6:30 pm Social with local organic snacks
7:00 pm Slide Presentation and Talk

FREE ~ Donation Appreciated

Everyone welcome!    Tell your friends!

The Ventana was birthed in 1963 and was published continuously until Debbie’s retirement in December 2011, 48 years later!

Debbie will also give us a glimpse of what she has been doing since retiring as Ventana editor and will read an excerpt from her recently published book, "In the thrill of the night". If you remember going out to play without parental supervision, this book is for you. If you don’t remember that time and wonder about the freedom children used to have, this book will let you in on the secrets. If you can’t imagine how kids entertained themselves before the smart phone and the internet, you must read this book.

Books will be available for purchase for $14.95 with $5 from each sale donated to the Santa Cruz Group of the Sierra Club and our work to protect the local Santa Cruz County environment.

I enjoyed the way Debbie engaged us in the journey -- I did not know or remember that PG&E had wanted to turn Monterey / Elkhorn Slough into a deep water port-- thank you all who fought for environmental sanity for your everlasting passion and long-sustaining commitment to preserve for future generations.

I'm so thankful for everything Debbie has done for the Sierra Club, but I will not be able to attend due to a prior commitment.

If you want to bike or car pool, write your request here. Carpoolers: let other people know if you can drive or if you need a ride. Also tell what part of town you are in . Thanks for not contributing to global climate change!
