Welcome to the one and only Santa Monica Beach Party Meet-Up!
I created this group because I was always so jealous of large groups at the beach and wondered how they did it because managing your friends can be a huge pain in the ass!
The 2012 Beach Party Season was a great success and I hope that the 2013 season rages even harder! That said, lets get right into it. Getting to the beach on a weekend is always going to present its fair share of traffic and congestion so please plan accordingly.
I'd say if at all possible DO NOT TAKE A CAR! I realize that's a tall order in the city of Los Angeles. Take the bus, ride a bike or longboard, carpool, hitchhike safely, whistle at a roadside donkey, park at 7th and San Vicente and street luge into the canyon, anything but drive if you can help it!
The actual location has no physical address (15100 Pacific Coast Highway, Pacific Palisades 90272 is the closest:) so I must implore you to use your smart phone and copy and paste the following coordinates into Google Maps. If you are using Apple Maps do yourself a favor and download Google Maps, it's much better:)
34.029829,-118.524196 (Google Maps Only)
It is just South of life guard tower 15 and North of tower 17. For some reason there is no tower 16. Not sure of the story, I'll ask some locals.
Also, I will have an all yellow "Don't Tread On Me" Flag attached to the volleyball pole where we will be located. Depending on the wind direction and where your standing it may be hard to see.
When I announce the Meet Up I'll include my phone number so you can text or call me.I'll also be updating my Twitter account so please follow for all the hottest beach party info around at:www.twitter.com/thuggiesdotnet
Here's What You Should Bring:
Any Food Or Beverage That You Fancy (Fruits, etc.)
Sand Socks Or Equivalent For Hot Sand
Back Up Clothes As The Day Progresses
***Be aware of the Santa Monica Beach Drinking Policy***
After some thought, I don't want to ever make any of you pay to attend my beach parties. However, I would greatly appreciate your donations.I am out of pocket for the organizer dues and all the gear but all I want to do is break even.
If everyone donates $5 per event that will help greatly! I also have the ability to take credit cards via Paypal on my phone in case you forget your cash and would like to donate.
Thanks to all who have donated already!
Some additional parking tips if you need to drive:
The Temescal Canyon (til' 10 PM) hill has a bunch of free parking provided you don't mind walking from there. It's probably a 10 minute walk but it's free! Also, I recommend parking on Channel and Entrada roads as they are also free. There is also a paid lot on Entrada that will be cheaper than the Will Rogers lot on the PCH (entrance at Temescal Canyon)
Thanks for the read and I look forward to having the best times this summer!J
