WordCamp Miami - March 5th - Tickets are only $30

Hi all,

If you didn't know, WordCamp Miami is scheduled for Sat. March 5th. (It's actually in Coral Gables). This is a one day event that will take place at the University of Miami School of Communication. If you use WordPress, there will most likely be a session you'll enjoy.

Speaking of that, I'm also speaking there in a session named "Introduction to WordPress" targeted toward those either completely new to WordPress or those who have it installed but want to understand the underlying concepts and basic features.

I attended my first WordCamp in January in Phoenix and although the sessions were great, the best part of the conference were all the impromptu conversations and knowledge sharing going on throughout the day and evenings.

Check it out and if anyone ends up going, let's continue the conversation on the discussion thread.

Adam, congrats on speaking at WordCamp. I am interested in going if anyone wants to go there and back in the same day. I checked out the website but they did not have anything listed in the schedule yet. If your topic is "Introduction to WordPress" I would like to suggest showing people how to run their website on their local computer so they can test changes they want to make. This is particularly important to me because I am trying to do just that so if anyone in the group can help me with that please let me know (I am using XAMPP but clicking on any of the post links doesn't work, I seem to only be able to get the home page).

Adam, I am new to the group and there has not been a meetup since I joined I would like to suggest one the week after WordCamp, same time and place okay.

Again, if anyone wants to go there and back in the same day lets talk.

Hi Hope,

According to the #wcmia Twitter feed, the schedule is supposed to be posted by this Friday. For now, you can get a rough idea of the sessions by looking at the speaker page here.

This is only a one day event, and it looks like each session will be a max of 30-40mins. Most WordCamps are generally smaller than full fledged conferences and therefore somewhat limited in the amount of "start to finish" information presented, but should still be useful if any of the sessions are of interest.

My topic is "Introduction to WordPress" but because of the 30 minute time constraint for my session, I won't be covering local development techniques. Regarding the links not working, you might find this article helpful:

I'd be happy to schedule another Meetup for the week after WordCamp.
