The Saskatoon Freethinkers are now a branch of the Centre for Inquiry (CFI) Canada .
The purpose of the Saskatoon Freethinkers is to support its members and the local community through social activities and educational outreach. It also undertakes activism and collaboration to promote and defend secularism, separation of church and state, science, reason, and free inquiry. The group holds regular meetings and hosts public events, such as the Darwin Day celebration, film screenings and public lectures. The members of the Saskatoon Freethinkers are atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, freethinkers, skeptics, Brights, and other heathens.
Freethinker is defined as “one that forms opinions on the basis of reason independently of authority; especially one who doubts or denies religious dogma.”
