June 2016 Gathering - James Bach: Every Act of Testing Involves Many Layers

Details
Come out for our last gathering of the season. For this event we have a Special Guest, James Bach of Satisfice ( http://www.satisfice.com/aboutjames.shtml ).
Topic Abstract:
Any tester, in any moment of performing a test, embodies multiple and simultaneous processes.
These processes involve the use of and the evolution of at least the following things:
• The testing narrative
• The enactment of a specific test idea
• The tester's knowledge of the product
• The tester's role and integration on the project
• The tester's knowledge and skill of testing
• The tester's talents and temperament
These things form independent threads in the testing, and sometimes ordered layers. In this talk I will give an example of a moment of testing, then show how all these things relate. When we learn to see these elements at work in real time, we gain an appreciation for the complexity of testing, and we become better able to critique and improve testing on any given project.
About the Speaker:
James is a well known speaker and instructor in the testing community and has been a passionate tester for 29 years. He as worked for Borland, Apple any many other companies answering the question “How do we know our work on this product is good?”
James will be joining us over a video link for his talk, but we will be able to ask questions and interact with him at the event.
