FERN DELL IN GRIFFITH PARK To Mt. Hollywood

Hello fellow hikers, this week we'll go back to Griffith Park for one we haven't done in a long time, FERN DELL IN GRIFFITH PARK to the top of Mt. Hollywood. This is not the hike to the Hollywood sign. It is short but it packs a good workout.

With an elevation of 1,626 feet

the distance round trip from Fern Dell to the top of Mt. Hollywood is 5 miles

Dog Friendly: Yes, with leash.

This is a wonderful intermediate hike that goes up past the observatory and all the way to Mt. Hollywood with great views at the top of the LA basin, in a clear morning, we can see the Pacific ocean. We'll have a break at the pole, where anyone can make some money if you're willing to dance...

It is a steep climb all fire roads, in certain parts and it is very exposed so bring a hat and plenty of water. Bring some light snacks so we can share with the group at the top and don't forget the nuts.

We'll meet in the parking lot on the left side and above the main road for a quick warm up and a stretch before hitting the trail. Please be there a few minutes earlier, we will stretch at 8:00am and then leave right after. It will take us about 2 to 2 1/2 hours for the round trip.

If you have some time to spare you can visit the Griffith Observatory on your way back.

Any rain Friday night or Saturday Morning will cancel this hike.

*Take the 5 south all the way to Los Feliz exit

*Take Los Feliz almost all the way to the end (just before it turns into Western).

*Turn RIGHT on Fern Dell and drive past the Trails Cafe. Stay on Fern Dell and look for a BIG parking lot on the left.
