What kind of science-fiction/fantasy do you enjoy reading?

Isn't all literature, oh I don't know, fantasy? OK, sorry. Ahem. Doesn't have to be labeled sff (magical realism is good, too). I'm not fussy as long as it's well-written and offers concepts that are merely smart-to-brilliant, funny, genre-bending, eye-opening, mind-bending, somewhat educational, charming but not soppy, and/or invoked a sense of wonder.

Who are your favorite authors?

More than the teeming hordes of authors I merely like, these folks have either blown me away consistently or happen to remember at the moment. Therefore, in no particular order after Pratchett: Kadry, O'Malley, Briggs, Scalzi, Gaiman, McKinley, Howey, Vinge, Kay, Stephenson, Card, Martin, LeGuin, Willis, Beagle, Vonnegut. Ooh, and I know I'm gonna remember 10 more authors I worship the second I hit submit....

Introduction

I stumbled into Amber in high school and never looked back. Now looking forward to discussing this obsession with like-minded others.
