Eric Cerecedes is the founder and formulator for MycoFormulas, LLC, a medicinal mushroom company located in Southern Oregon. In the past seven years, Cerecedes has delivered lectures on the history and benefits of Medicinal Mushrooms at Stanford University, Southern Oregon University, The Teliosis Institute in Berkely, CA, the Sierra Club, BLM, Forest Service, Native American communities, cultural festivals, healing centers and mycological societies throughout the United States. Since his introduction to medicinal mushrooms, Cerecedes has been engaged in field and laboratory work, and focused on public education though low-cost cultivation seminars and mushroom hikes.
Cerecedes is passionate about social justice, and has fused his love for mushrooms with his concern for human rights through his work with Baan Unrak, a Children's Center in Thailand, that rescues Burmese refugee orphans and offers a them a safe, peaceful home in which to grow and learn. Cerecedes is helping to develop an Organic Farming project at Baan Unrak to integrate beneficial fungi and bacteria into their vegetable gardens and composting systems to support living soils and nutritious food.
Cerecedes teaches that "Mushrooms maintain the careful balance of complex ecosystems, from allowing different plant species to share nutrients, to decomposing and neutralizing environmental toxins, to supporting the health of human beings, mushrooms seem to act intelligently to support all land-based life forms on our planet". Like mushrooms, Cerecedes seeks to connect and catalyze beneficial relationships that support a healthier future for his family, his community and the Earth. He recognizes mushrooms as an effective, non-toxic, affordable support to human health. He believes that raising awareness about mushrooms can improve not only our health, but improve environmental protection of old growth forest, re-mediate damaged soil, increase drinkable water and nutrition for third world nations, and lead to personal resilience in times of change
