Marine Room... Restaurant?!?

Diving at Marine Room

Breakfast Buffet at Marine Room

WHERE: Anyone familiar with the Marine Room dive site knows that it’s named for the French Restaurant that we haul our gear past each time we dive there. But how many of us have actually eaten there?  Well, now’s your chance!  And no, I'm not referring to chicken wings from a cooler while you're propped up against the restaurant's wall in between dives.

WHAT: All you can eat Breakfast Buffet!

Marine Room is having one of their famous “High Tide Breakfasts” and Power Scuba will be there. I’ve reserved a table for twelve under the name of "Power Scuba". If we fill up early, I will call ahead and try to increase the number of spots, so please sign up now if you know you’re going.

WHEN: Our table reservation is at 7:30 in the morning.  Sorry about that, but that's when it's High Tide.  You can sleep in on Monday (call in sick, you'll be STUFFED!)

ATTIRE: When I inquired about their dress code, the Maître D' didn't actually say "Just don't dress like a slob" but when I asked that question, he made noises of agreement.  They prefer business casual at nights but at breakfast, they relax the rules a little.

PARKING: Their Parking lot is for Valet Parking only.  Please park on the street if you are no

t interested in valet parking.  One can usually find a spot not far from the restaurant.

But what about DIVING? Feel free to coordinate with a buddy and go diving after breakfast if conditions allow.  Any diving that takes place afterwards will not be an official Power Scuba event.

THE FOOD: This will be a chance to dine at a well-known SCUBA diving landmark and enjoy fabulous food and be treated to a good show by Mother Nature.

The buffet is $34 per person, which is reasonable compared to dinner there. One could easily spend $200 for dinner for two. I hear it’s fantastic, but you could buy new fins at that price and still have money left over for a boat dive.  Breakfast is a lot more affordable, comparatively speaking.

Here is a link to the Marine Room's High Tide Breakfast Buffet menu.

Hope to see you there!

Just a quick update. The Parking Lot at Marine Room Restaurant is valet parking only. If you'd like to avoid valet parking, please park on the street where one usually does for a Marine Room dive!

Folks, when you RSVP "Yes" here, how about trying your level best to KEEP it a "Yes". Eric has to give numbers to the restaurant and when people keep dropping off it makes it really hard for him to look credible in the restaurant's eyes. Work with us, eh?

When I called Marine Room this morning, I discovered that they raised the price of the buffet. It is now $34 per person this year, but well worth it. Please note that drinks are not included, but guess what? STILL WORTH IT! Indulge yourself, this is GOOD FOOD. When's the last time you had Heirloom bacon? Check out the menu in the meetup details. Or just trust me...nom nom nom! :)

Hey everyone, this meetup filled up quickly, so I called Marine Room and increased our reservation to 24! Please feel free to come attend this wonderful Sunday Brunch and spectacular show by Mother Nature.

These are fun breakfasts...waves crashing into the windows, seaweed piling up on the building. And don't forget the dolphins posing for pictures of course. I'd join you Eric, but I'll be in Vegas. Next time.
