6:30 – 7:15 - Then and Now - Evolution of the Cloud and What it Means for You

Abstract: The cloud is revolutionizing the way people work together, allowing businesses to create new value by accelerating collaboration and innovation. Over the last decade, Google has built infrastructure that serves 4 billion hours of video every month, support 425 million Gmail users and store and manage over 100 petabytes of web index. This session will cover how cloud technologies have evolved into secure and necessary platforms for enterprise IT and how business can use them to their advantage. We'll talk about how to evaluate cloud technologies and will provide an inside look into Google's Cloud and how customers are using it today.

Speaker: Adam Swidler is a Senior Manager in Google’s enterprise division, responsible Google Apps security, privacy and compliance. Prior to Google, Adam was the Director of Product Management for Vendavo, in charge of the Pricing and Margin Management applications suite. Adam was also with Ariba as the Senior Product Manager for Arbia’s eProcurement solutions. He has over 20 years of experience in Enterprise IT solutions with the last 6 focused on IT security. Adam is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and attended Fordham University graduating Cum Laude with a BA in Economics and Mathematics.

7:15 - 8:00 - Microsoft’s Cloud Compliance Program

Abstract: Despite the fact that cloud computing has been discussed and used for a number of years, much of the regulation relating to it is still in flux. This interactive session will take a closer look at the evolving cloud computing standard landscape, and in particular at how standards can support policy makers in areas of security and data protection. Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure compliance program will be described as a case study to demonstrate an approach to a comprehensive and flexible compliance program.

Speaker: Mark Estberg is a Senior Director in Microsoft’s Global Foundation Services Online Services Security and Compliance organization. Global Foundation Services manages Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure. His team provides Microsoft’s 200+ cloud and online services a set of capabilities upon which their infrastructure security, compliance and reliability needs can be met. His responsibilities include compliance with cloud regulations and industry standards, audit management, infrastructure security evaluation and business continuity management. His Microsoft background includes governance, risk and compliance in Microsoft’s Global Foundation Services and Microsoft’s Information Technology’s Information Security organizations. Mark also led Microsoft’s Security Center of Excellence, which works with the public and private sector to develop and implement security solutions. Mark was Director of Information Technology at Visio Corporation prior to joining Microsoft in 2000. His career also includes software development, management consulting and forensic economics. Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts in computer science with a minor in business administration from the University of San Diego.
