My pleasure. I hope the second deep dive goes well!

For anyone who's interested, I took a stap at writing up a transcript of the talk. It's posted along with the deck: http://www.n10k.com/blog/hbase-for-architects/

    Thanks again for having me!

It was a good idea overall, but to my liking it sounded too much like a joint sales pitch for a meetup called "deep dive". Maybe my expectations were wrong from beginning, but I anticipated some more in-depth examples and theory rather than tales about "how we can help your business". Nick Dimiduk got close, but he had too little time for all the things he should've covered.

David, I liked your presentation. The use cases for NoSQL DB were very educational for me. Your presentation style and content was appropriate for the time given.

It was good, learned a little about HBase and NO SQL Store. Is it possible to get the slides that were presented.

Too bad I was not able to make it as I was knocked down by a cold. Hope to see you all next time!

Too many speakers, they didn't get the time to dive deep. questions at the end don't work, too much momentum is lost. besides networking, it wasn't worth the money charged.

Ashay, as a techie, I agree that more time would have allowed us to go deeper. On the other hand, limited time forces the presenters to focus, certainly in my case. :-) I think that these kinds of meetups try to balance deep & detailed VS high level & concise presentations styles. If a 60-90 minute presentation on a single topic or product is generally interesting to the members of the group, you can always invite a good speaker (one you've already experienced in the briefer format) back to speak more in-depth.

    April 5, 2013

    • Lindsey T.

Absolutely - Nick will be doing a deep dive of HBase.
