Software debt slowly creeps into applications and platforms when integrity is not asserted and verified on a frequent basis. Quality debt is a type of software debt that can be managed and monitored separately from the other types (technical, configuration management, design, and platform experience debt). This session will cover some processes and practices to help manage quality debt effectively such as: Acceptance Test-Driven Development Test-Driven Development Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) The Three Amigos Pattern (common pattern titled by Bob Payne and George Dinwiddie) Push Button Release Asserting quality with Definition of Done Identify Quality Debt earlier with Tools and Dashboards

Windows 8 shipped in over 100 languages. Testing for International is highly complex engineering problem involving getting the various aspects of international right. There si world-readiness, localization testing and market customization.
The UI, functional, fit’n’finish, fonts, Input method editors (IMEs), Bi-directional testing, linguistic quality, local market relevance are all important aspects of this testing.
Managing international test team for Windows, Anu Arora shares her insight into international testing. Innovation and science is necessary to scale to the world, but nothing compensates for exercising the end to end experiences.

speaker bio:
Chris Sterling is Director of Engineering at Rally Software where he focuses on Agile Portfolio Management tools and processes along with helping managing our own software debt before it becomes a heavy burden. Chris is author of the book "Managing Software Debt: Building for Inevitable Change" and writes about his real world adventures in technology on the popular "Getting Agile" blog. As a trainer and speaker, Chris enlivens technical topics with his deep passion for software development and a touch of humor. In his spare time, he is a regular contributor to multiple open source projects.

Anu Arora is the Principal Test Manager for Windows International test. She is responsible for the quality of international Windows, the many languages Windows ships in. Her test team in conjunction with language experts verify and validate the functional, linguistic and fit’n’finish of all the languages. The goal is that Windows works well for the local market.

Anu has been in Microsoft for 13 years, all in Software Testing. Prior to Windows, Anu was a trainer and consultant on Microsoft Corporation’s Engineering Excellence team. As a part of one of the few elite members on Microsoft's Engineering Excellence team in, she was chartered with helping all of Microsoft Test get better. In that role she taught testers how to be better and designed, and taught various technical courses for Microsoft's testers, test leads and test managers. As a huge advocate of Software Testing, she has presented at many conferences.

Her other passion is to promote more women to join and be successful in the field of technology.
