at the end of a very busy year and now over 70 successful kayaking trips I'd like to take this time to wish you all a very Merry Xmas and to thank you all for giving me the excuse to go paddling on any possible spare moment I have (which these days is getting less than I would want).
2013 will bring some big changes to our group, hopefully all will make it better. It has become obvious throughout the year that a lot more people would like to go sea kayaking than I have been able to cater for so I am looking to get more kayaks and more people to help with the training and the guiding of the trips. I am also a new dad, so I know my ability to spend so much time at sea will now be reduced!
So, I've made a couple of changes immediately, mostly to try and help people keep in touch. These will also help us to move our paddling group into better things in 2013.
In an effort to make it easier for people to communicate with each other in this group rather than having to post a comment on an event, I've turned on the mailing list function (I actually didn't know it existed before otherwise I would have made it available before).
If like me, you have made some good friends though this group, you now have the ability to communicate with them individually or as a group (I think, I'm not that sure how it works yet, but that is what I've been told).
Also I've started a Google+ community called Sea Kayakers and Friends to try and make more things possible than allowed by the Meetup application. This will develop over time but if you are interested in seeing how it could work have a look under your Google+ profile and see if you want to join.
See ya on the water in 2013
