Film & Food Night: "A Farm for the Future"

Details

We kick off our winter film series with a lovely film, visually beautiful, that is a good introduction to issues in our agriculture system and possible solutions. So, definitely bring your friends who are just learning!

A FARM FOR THE FUTURE

Wildlife film maker Rebecca Hosking investigates how to transform her family’s farm in Devon into a low energy farm for the future, and discovers that nature holds the key.

Rebecca returns to her family’s farm to become the next generation to farm the land. But high fuel prices were a wake-up call for Rebecca. Realising that food production is dependent on abundant cheap fossil fuel, she sets out to discover just how secure this oil supply is.

Alarmed by the answers, she explores other ways of farming, including permaculture. With the help of pioneering growers, Rebecca learns that nature holds the key to farming in a low-energy future.

We will start with the film (starting on time - feel free to come early to get settled!), then have a potluck. Please bring a "potluck kit" - dish, bowl, cup, silverware, napkin - as well as your potluck contribution. We will be able to plug in crockpots, heat some items up, make hot water for tea.

Parking on Sunday is easy there - go to UNH's C Lot, across Mill Rd from Waysmeet.

We will be taking donations to cover costs for the event as all our films this year have required a screening license cost.

Sponsored by the Greater Seacoast Permaculture Meetup Group & The United Campus Ministry to UNH
