Prepare to re-learn the art of video compression March 27.

For our second meeting of the Seattle Adobe Premiere Users group we will feature a very special presentation from the inventors of Sigala Transcoder. This Canadian firm is revolutionizing the way media is encoded. At first, I made a standard def H.264 MP4 file that weighed in at 190 MB. Sigala Transcoder compressed the same file down to 96 MB AND kept it in high def. If you want to see amazing compression savings on your videos you wont want to miss this meeting.

I have to say last night's meeting was very useful information! I am very grateful to be able to do a Q&A with such a knowledgable presenter on a topic that's always been kind of confusing to me. I'm sure it was a foreign language to some of the group, but for me, he helped make sense of a lot of basics involving video compression, which is hard to do with the given topic and vocabulary surrounding it. Thank you Gordon for getting involved and inviting the guys from Sigala!

Kind of funny that the question on price sort of got lost in the mist, tho. I'm sure with software as advanced as this, probably isn't going to be no $100.

I'm glad I was able to attend last night's meeting. Sigala Transcoder looks interesting. BTW, I found this info on vimeo.com:
David Saxon in Arizona and Producer Ciska Faulkner and Film Editor Tracy Granger in London discussing the application of Sigala software during a feature film shoot.

I read the description of this event, to be honest - I am excited about its promise. I am curious how much "loss" will be experienced, what bitrates it can handle, and an even bigger question:

I can't afford a R3D yet, but as soon as I find an opportunity to get my hands on a 5K R3D - if a test could be done on it if the encoder would work - I think that would be the biggest bang for the buck test and seeing that would be awesome.

I would be interested to see the sigala also side by side with H.264 in 1080p.. running 30p or 60p.

I am excited about this meetup and I look forward to seeing everyone there.

I searched the Sigala website, but sadly there were not many answers to be found... So until Wed then.

Can Sigala Transcoder be integrated into Adobe Premiere or is it a separate app? Thanks~
