App-cessories and Bluetooth!

Hello everyone!

Bluetooth has created a new category of devices called ‘Appcessories’.  These enable people to interact with technology like never before by helping to customize and improve the experience on their  tablets, smartphones and mobile devices.  In this session, we’ll cover several things.

  ·  What is an appcessory?

  ·  Potential market for developers in this space and how Bluetooth
  can enable their solutions

  ·  Overview of how to get started with Bluetooth technologies form a developer’s point of view

  ·  What is a profile?

  ·  What is GATT?

  ·  What is Bluetooth Smart, and how do I get a Smart device to talk to a Smart Ready hub?

Come and learn how Bluetooth Smart (sometimes referred to as Bluetooth Low Energy or Bluetooth 4.0) can help you deliver these rich experiences to your audiences.

Presenting is Steve Hegenderfer, Director of Developer Programs, Bluetooth SIG.

Short Bio - I have worked in and out of the mobile space since about 2000 (remember the old Palm V?  Yup, I used to develop on THAT thing) and I’ve seen a lot of great things over my time in the industry.  But nothing excites me more than seeing what crazy things developers will do next with a technology, and that is what drove me to Bluetooth.

See you there!

NOTE about tonight's meetup location. Please come to the building entrance on 4th street (main front entrance). We'll have people stationed at the doors to escort upstairs. If you come to the other doors after 7PM, they may be locked. Thanks.

Just to let all know, the venue for this meetup, 925 4th Avenue, is the 4th and Madison building. We'll be on the 10th floor (Disney). We'll also have signs and people directing traffic downstairs. Looking forward to it!

Hi Ben - I noticed that a venue is needed. I would be happy to arrange the talk to be in Kenmore at the Kenmore Business Incubator or possibly at the City Council building. Please let me know and I can make arrangements.
