Hello Everyone!

Greg from AngelHack was so impressed by the turnout last AngelHack that he's offered a free ticket to everyone from SeaDroid to go to this hackathon, in December.  Best of all, I don't have to clean up! :D

Seriously though, this is a great opportunity to come away with some fabulous prizes, VC attention, and have an absolutely awesome good time.

Normally, you would have to go to the Eventbrite site and sign up, but since we have a special deal, all you have to do sign up here!  We will transfer the names over before the event.

Here is the blurb:

Get excited Seattle! AngelHack’s 24-hour Hackathon is back and this time we’re bigger than ever! Join us for Seattle's Fall 2012 edition, where you can find:

  • 100's of amazing developers & designers to work with
  • Gourmet food, shwag, nerf guns, helicopters, and at select locations- AR drones and free massages
  • Over $650,000 in prizes, including acceptance into AngelHack's Hackcelerator program and trips to Silicon Valley (more details below and on our FAQ)
  • Media coverage and immediate attention for your hackathon project to get taken to the next level
  • An awesome community of mentors, influencers, and expert judges to help you along the way

What should I build?
Create a prototype (hack) of something that you believe solves a big problem. You don't need a business plan or anything crazy like that, but you should be able to show the big idea potential of your hack. AngelHack is a launchpad for you to flush out and validate projects you've always wanted to build. Previous winners include: Appetas, GiveGo, TapFame, SnapStore, ShareBrowse, Kloutron, & Blue Dragon Security.

What are the rules?
All code must be FRESH. Prior to the hackathon you can create your design, wireframes, logo, and user flows. You can even build hardware. But to make things completely fair you can not write any code whatsoever until the hackathon starts. All code must be built at AngelHack.

For more info visit our Rules and FAQ pages.

Good Luck,
Gregory Gopman

Great experience at AngelHack! I liked the opening speech by Keller and Curtis from Appetas, Seattle and national winner from AngelHack Seattle back in June. I thought that was a brilliant idea to bring back past winners to share their experience and also help out current attendees. It’s always a thrilling experience to team up with up other developers, and UX designers etc. to put together a prototype in 24 hours. It would have been better to get more email communications though, i.e. schedule and the final winners.

Good question. We are wondering if logos and other graphic design elements constitute a production asset. Anyone?

Whoa, apparently the # spots filled up *as I was typing* in the RSVP comment...

The start time is shown here as 7pm, but on the Eventbrite page, it's 9am, which sounds more likely:

(I was wondering if it was UTC here, but 9am here would be 5pm UTC.)

Eric, Marc, your ideas look interesting. I can't wait to hear the pitches! I'll try to think of one and post it too. =)

Thanks Benn, Are there any previous winners' submissions I might view to get a better idea of what a completed submission looks like?

As an app designer, is this event something I should bring my concept to on order to build a team? I'm still not clear what is supposed to occur at the hub. Team forming? Coding? Eating and drinking :-) Capital raising?

Succinctly, people pitch ideas, and try to build a team to build the app over the weekend. So the more of that you have done, the more competitive you will be! That said, I've seen teams formed from scratch execute really well on compelling ideas and take home the whole thing!

    Hi Folks!

Thank you for signing up! I'm closing the invites here, now, and sending the list over to AngelHack for inclusion!

    Good luck, everyone!

I'm not sure why it's so quite even 3 days before this Hackathon. Last time they sent out messages weeks in advance on how to join it and form teams. In case you haven't noticed, you can join it here, see other attendees and form teams:

Thanks for the link. I've signed up and put a bit of info about me and our project...

Is anyone planning on forming teams (or partial teams) prior to the weekend? I've did that before, and it really helped us flush out the concept before executing!

Yeah, we've got a concept, a domain, and a lead designer and a ui/ux designer on board. We've got wireframes and a plan, and we'll be looking to inspire a hacker or two to join the team.

No ticket purchase necessary - signing up here is entirely enough. See you there!

Can someone confirm to know if this is still be upheld with Greg? The only reason I'm asking is because Angelhack has been handing out a lot of free tickets elsewhere or providing 50% off discounts. Just want to make sure whether or not I have to buy tickets or not. (in the case of overbooking, people with purchased tickets I'd imagine have precedence over us)
