Since the March meeting was cancelled, I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in having another meeting in Seattle in April. We had quite a turnout of Amazon employees at the last one, but sadly, none from the regular meet ups and no one who is using Groovy or Grails on a regular basis (its been two years since I've worked on a production Grails app and I have no projects that are all or even mostly Groovy). Since I've been promoting Groovy and Grails with my coworkers, I've raised quite a lot of interest, but a lot of people want to talk with someone who can answer their questions regarding scalability and long term maintainability. Any group members who would be willing to show up in April to talk about what they've been working on and/or answer questions from other curious devs and PMs? Alternatively, I've been kicking around the idea of a Grails workshop to get people using the framework to highlight its simplicity and flexibility. We've talked about doing a book club meeting on the off months before. Maybe we can walk through the Grails user guide or some intro to Grails book and set up our dev environments and help each other experiment and come up with cool things to do with Groovy? Let me know if anyone is interested and I'll try to get the room booked. I can talk with my manager about getting pizza ordered again.
