Hello All;

Just wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that Grails48 II - The World's Hackathon has now announced the official date for it's next global hackathon.

Once again there is a local location for this years event at the amazing lakefront offices of Rally Software in Redmond, WA. Find contact information at if you're interested in being a partner or in participating.

Grails48 is a global community hackathon series and startup mentorship program. Our second event is taking place February 28th - March 2nd, 2014 both online and in various locations around then globe. The purpose of Grails48 is to bring the Grails world together, igniting innovation with our favorite JVM based tools and platforms.

Last years event which was the first in the series was very well attended and received rave reviews by all involved including the partners and participants themselves. There were 6 well known judges and 8 mentors from within the Groovy/Grails community, and 19 teams from 19 different locations around the world which included 250+ hackers.

Some amazing projects were born out of the event and we expect even bigger things from this years program as there has been a lot of interest from people wanting to be involved.

Feel free to contact us with any questions you might have.

Keith Doughty

Grails48 ( is a global community driven non-profit hackathon series and startup mentorship program with a presence in 19 countries.

The goals of Grails48 are:

* To ignite startup activity and innovation on the JVM.
* Provide a mentorship board of industry leaders to offer guidance and advice to our community with startups or career advancement.
* Bring the entire JVM ecosystem together in achieving our mission.

Groovy and Grails are the chosen technologies for the Grails48 program as they currently offer the lowest barrier to entry in attracting new
developers to the JVM and bringing those back that have left for Ruby and Rails. The program is not limited to Groovy and Grails and our
hope is to foster communication and collaboration with other communities such as Java, Scala, Clojure, Android, iOS, web designers, etc.
We have folks with a variety of skill sets and backgrounds participating.

Grails48 was created on Sept 19, 2012 and has seen tremendous interest from the community.
