I think they're hoping that projects are ongoing, so making progress on something that already exists or starting something new that will be an ongoing project
At the last event, I only spent a few hours, but I was able to try out d3.js, which is something I'd been wanting to do for a while.
From big, well-organized hackathons like Startup Weekend and AngelHack to small, ad hoc hackathons like a couple of friends in a coffee shop, we want to help increase the number of hackathons going on in Seattle, help support them, and help publicize them.
