Mike Miller w/ Cloudant will talk about using CouchDB to measure radiation remnants from the Japanese reactor incident. Awesome!

Our format is flexible: We usually have speakers who talk for ~30 minutes each and then do Q+A, plus discussion.
There'll be beer afterwards, of course! Fierabend, 422 Yale Ave N

Mike kept the senior technical audience spellbound by linking CouchDB to his unconventional but scientific measurements of the energy plume emitted from Japans broken reactors.

What a great talk! Liked the fact that it included the key aspects/challenges in setting up the experiments, collecting data, all the way up to aggregating in the cloud.
The speaker then led a Q&A session about CloudDB and BigCloud technologies which was informative as well.
The speaker had a lively presentation style in addition to the very informative and technology-rich talk -- which is rare

Very entertaining speaker. The topic was more about Radiation measurements than CouchDB/BigCouch though. Would have loved to see a bit more details around:
1. Why did he chose CouchDB/BigCouch (besides being the developer on it)
2. What were the lessons from using it
The follow-up Q/A was more valuable from the tech point of view.

Mike - What a great talk! Liked the fact that it included the key aspects/challenges in setting up the experiments, collecting data, all the way up to aggregating in the cloud. The Q&A later about CloudDB and BigCloud technologies was informative as well.
Liked your lively presentation style as well. Style with the substance - that is not so common.
Brad - Thoroughly enjoyed my first talk at this meetup - definitely will be back for more!!
Thank you!

Hi Bradford Stephens, I had mixed feelings about you not being there tonight (don't take any offense to this) but it worked out better that way. There was no moderator to get in Mike's way! =)
Mike Miller was AWESOME. Was it just me or did everyone notice how awesome tonight's meetup was? Mike, I'm glad that you shared the realpolitik on nuclear and big data. You know, I feel like conversations with non technical people just have too much cruft. Give me the data AND the dirt. Brilliant!
