Seattle Hadoop / Scalability / NoSQL Meetup: Cheezburger, Cloudera
Details
This meetup focuses on Scalability and technologies to enable handling large amounts of data: Hadoop, HBase, distributed NoSQL databases, and more!
There's not only a focus on technology, but also everything surrounding it including operations, management, business use cases, and more.
This month's guests are Scott Porad, the CTO of Cheezburger Network. You can haz an excellent discussion about their infrastructure.
In addition, we have Josh Patterson from Cloudera speaking about machine learning with Mahout and HBase.
We've had great success in the past, and are growing quickly! Including guests from Twitter, LinkedIn, Amazon, Cloudant, 10gen/MongoDB, and more.
Our format is flexible: We usually have speakers who talk for ~30 minutes each and then do Q+A, plus discussion.
There'll be beer afterwards, of course! Fierabend, 422 Yale Ave N
Meetup Location:
Downtown. 1011 Western Ave. Suite 1000 (Floor 10)
Doors open 30 minutes ahead of show-time. Please show up at least 15 minutes early out of respect for our first speaker.
How to Get Here, Where to Park & Building Info
Your best bet is to take the bus/metro/transit downtown, then you don't have to park. If you are driving and need parking there is a parking lot next to the building (on the right side of Okinawa) which is $8 for the evening. There is also parking in the building, but it is more expensive. Other than that there is lots of available parking a few blocks away in various lots.
The building won't have access beyond 7pm, but someone will be available to allow entrance until 7:10pm, so please be on time! Elevators will allow entrance until 9pm. After that the elevators and doors will only allow departure.
