When and how did you become aware that you're an HSP? And how did you learn about our group?

I was browsing a book store and came across Elaine's book in 2007. I was amazed to read her description of characteristics, some that I identify with, and some that I had tuned into in others - the people who feel like family to me. I learned about the group because I had been seeking information since reading Elaine's books and I found Peter's blog online. I was excited to see this group start up.

Have you read any of Elaine Aron's books about the HSP trait? Which ones?

The first and the second, and many of her articles.

How have you experienced being an HSP? Please share a couple of examples of how being Highly Sensitive affects your life.

I seem to be moderately sensitive on the emotionally empathic side, and HSS for the sake of learning. I have always been sensitive to others, but not to light and sound. I do need quiet time alone, however. So perhaps there is an HSP range or variability in these traits. I wish most for improved understanding and communication between people.

What sort of activities do you enjoy? Besides just "meeting to talk," what sort of activities (if any) would you enjoy, as part of an HSP meetup group?

Discussions. Sharing what matters. Going on walks. I love the Japanese Tea Ceremony in the arboretum.

What do you hope to get from your membership in our HSP meetup? (i.e. friendship, activity partners, support, networking, etc)

Learning. Friendship.

Introduction

I am a forest ecologist, ENFP, and travel with my family up and down the West Coast. I value a genuine exchange of ideas with others.

What Karen is saying about this Meetup Group

I am looking forward to future events.
