New Meetup: San Juans trip October 16-17 Prior kayaking experience required

Announcing a new Meetup for Seattle Area Sea Kayaking Meetup Group!

What: San Juans trip October 16-17 Prior kayaking experience required

When: Saturday, October 16,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Anacortes Ferry Terminal
2100 Ferry Terminal Rd
Anacortes, WA 98221

We have a great trip going from San Juan Island (Friday Harbor) to Turn Island. After making land on Turn Island we will have an optional excursion cruising around the the coast of San Juan Island and if we're lucky , maybe spotting a few whales.

The following trip is rated SK1+/SK2, see descriptions at this link:

http://students.washington.edu/ukc/seakayaking/sea_rating.php

The plan is to catch a ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor and
paddle from Friday Harbor to Turn Island along the shoreline
of San Juan Island. Still to be determined is if we will transport our kayaks on top of vehicle(s) or walk them on the ferry.

Further details are to be determined by ferry schedule and tide charts and the number of people who sign up.

What to bring:
A sense of humor and plenty of energy
The stuff for the meal you're making for the group
Drysuits
Headlamp
Water in a container - the island doesn't have any fresh water
TP - the island has an outhouse, sometimes it runs out.
Dishes and utensils to eat and drink with
Drysacks for your stuff, especially for your clothes and sleeping bag
Typical camping stuff - Tent, pad, sleeping bag, toiletries, several changes
of clothes

Meals need a vegetarian option - this trip while we have a few vegetarians
we don't have any vegans, so eggs, milk and cheese are acceptable.

Thanks - Randy and Lara
