I am delighted to have Alberto Cairo speaking for us this month. He will be speaking on what data visualization designers can learn from old news inforgraphics. It should be great.
Alberto Cairo teaches infographics and visualization at the School of Communication of the University of Miami. He's also the director of the visualization program of UM's Center for Computational Science. He has been a professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (2005-2009), and director of infograhics at El Mundo.es (http://mundo.es/) (Spain, 2000-2005) and Editora Globo (Brazil, 2010-2012). He is the author of the book 'The Functional Art: An Introduction to Information Graphics and Visualization'.
