  • Sep 25, 2013 · 7:00 PM

Disney will be hosting the Seattle iOS Developers September meetup. They will be giving short presentation on their efforts to build up a mobile center of excellence in Seattle. We will then hear from two members of the meetup, Robert Mao and Haitao Li, co-founders of Pixo Mobile. Details on their talk below.

Food and drinks will be provided by Disney. Space is limited to 80 so please RSVP. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

A big thank you in advance to Steve Sullivan and the folks at Disney for hosting.

Robert and Haitao's Presentation

"Build a great app, everything else will come by itself"

-- 7 lessons we learned from our mobile startup journey

We would like to share 7 lessons we learned from our iOS app development experience in the last few months.

Half a year ago we started bootstrapping our startup. As developers we worried about many things except the technical and development side: product idea, finding great designers, naming, pricing, marketing, PR, partnership and so on. Eventually we realized that the only thing important is to "build a great app", then everything else will come after. It's easy to say, but we will share our real stories to show you what that means.

Robert and Haitao's apps..

Robert Mao: Co Founder of Pixo Mobile. Former Microsoft Research guy, serial entrepreneur, worked in China, Europe (Ireland) and USA.

Haitao Li: Co Founder of Pixo Mobile. Former Microsoft guy, developed Internet Explorer, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Thanks guys! Lots of good tips, I especially appreciated the insight about using the App Store name of your apps for SEO. To think I've been trying to keep my app names ultra short. Doh!

Great venue, I hope for more meetups at Disney, and not just because it's 100m from my apartment :-)

I learned a lot from Robert and his partner. Insightful, distressful and fun.
I wish in one year they share some follow up thoughts with what they've learned.
