This is a great opportunity for Campaign for Liberty outreach! Let's get a good turnout for this excellent speaker!
"Putting the Juice Back in Judicial Review"
Clark Neily, a senior litigator from the Institute for Justice, the nation's only *libertarian* civil liberties firm, will be in Seattle at the Law School on Tuesday, October 27 at 12:30 to discuss the importance of an honest judiciary that does not bend to local and state governments. Clark is well-known as the litigator who won Heller v. Washington D.C. (a.k.a. "D.C. Handguns case), but he has also spent the last ten years representing the economically and politically powerless in their efforts to fight back against big governments who team with wealthy individuals to take people?s homes for private gain and stymie competition from the poor to keep prices high. Clark has also represented religious and charter schools who are discriminated against by municipalities and states (including Washington) and he has fought government's attempts to block free speech through campaign finance laws. Clark's clients have suffered and even died during their struggles to earn a living and keep their homes, while the judiciary that is supposed to protect them simply defers to municipalities wedded to these wealthy interests.
Clark Neily is a compelling and articulate speaker. His stories of government abuse are outrageous and compelling. If you ever wished you had examples to tell about how the government gets in bed with monied interests to oppress its people, you don't want to miss this discussion!
Let's demand that the judiciary strike down the legislature's invidious ordinances and statutes. Let's put the juice back in judicial review!
Pizza will be provided.
RSVPs are encouraged, but not required to ][masked]
