Hey Women Meetup Skiers, (sorry guys - only way to add another guy is if he's bringing ringer girl to the team - :)
Seems like we always have plenty of guys on our 9 yr old Skier's Softball team, but always seem to work at keeping the same number of women on the team. Lost 2 women who moved out of area this year and 1 for health reasons.
So looking for 2-3 new women softball players that have some softball experience. So can we tempt you to come on out and play softball on a co-ed 9 yr old team composed mostly of eastside skiers? Over half the team members are Eastside Ski Meetup members.
The team is not affiliated with any ski group, however all but 3-4 are avid skiers in winter months. I formed it 9 yrs ago, as a way for 15 to 20 of us that have a common interest in the winter, to get out and socialize once a week (league play Monday nts) from July 9th thru first part of Sept. , play some slow pitch softball, and then head to our favorite watering hole around Redmond/Bellevue (Marymoor Park area) after the games. So see bottom of this email for contacts and let us know.
Because most teams usually hit a local spot after each game for food/drinks and socializing, its more of a weekly social than hard work! Our team plays most games at Marymoor park, but some years, we have a couple games in dwntwn Bellevue at the 'Hidden Valley' fields. The Co-Ed teams in these leagues have players from 20s to 60s, so get out and enjoy the summer weather. Afterall, what else do most of us have to do on a Monday night!
Games are usually only once a week, only taking around 2 hrs and starting around 6pm on weekdays (1-2 games a season start later). With enough players on our team(s), no one has to worry about making it every week.
COSTS: (paid the league by each team for field time, refs., etc...) are now . $88/person (when we have 8 guys/8 women) or a total team fee of $1395. The league charges each team this fee, simply split between the team members. However, this covers the entire season (16 games) and a few practices, umpires, game balls, field grooming before each game. All you need is a glove!
Past 9 years we have been assigned Mon. nights for 95% of our games.
Practices are Monday nights at 6pm in Marymoor park, with first season game scheduled for July 11th .
Thanks and hope to hear from a few of you girls.
