UX Careers: Portfolio and Job Seeking Tips with Patrick Neeman and Troy Parke

How to tell your UX Story
Whether you are just starting out in UX or well on your way, this session will answer your questions about portfolios and their role in UX careers.

* What should I include in a UX portfolio?
* What is a UX Design Manager Looking For?

Simply put, your UX portfolio should tell your story. However, how you tell your story is as important as the story itself.

Patrick Neeman (Usability Counts, Director of Product Design at Apptio and former Director of User Experience at Jobvite) and Troy Parke (UX How and UX Design Manager at Big Fish Games) will cover:

* How to tell your UX story through the presentation of your work
* 4-6 Practical, real world examples of entry and expert level portfolio projects
* Actionable answers to your questions about UX portfolios, resumes and interviews.

Have a question you want to see answered directly by Patrick and Troy? Post it in the comments below and then join us at for the event. (Bonus points if you ask a question from UX Drinking Game.)

Tonight's event will sell out. If you're not on the list of those who have paid, we will not be able to open spaces for walk-ins until after 6:45 pm. We want to make sure all who have registered are able to be seated.

    Had a question for tonight:
Any advice for people transitioning from other design-related careers. UCD certificate creds, but not as much hands-on UX work experience. Is it detrimental to show group projects from the UW program?
    Thanks!

Some questions for Patrick and Troy at the meetup: What does the online portfolio look like versus the interview presentation portfolio? Is there a difference? Is the online portfolio just a taste of your presentation work? IS there such a thing as too much work in the online portfolio? Can you assume that a hiring manager(s) has taken a look completely through your work by the time you are at an interview? Thanks-- I'm looking forward to the meetup!

Aubi - Thanks for the questions. We are going to be talking quite a bit about online vs. interview presentation of your work. Is there such a thing as too much work? I answer that and other questions here: http://uxhow.com/ux-p...

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
