Rally Software is seeking a high-energy UX Interaction Designer to work with an amazing team of product professionals and extraordinary developers. We are focused on delivering a new agile Portfolio Management product that supports adaptive decision-making at the cadence needed in today’s fast-paced, global business environments.
In this role, you’ll be part of a product team using Lean UX techniques to understand user needs, design and iterate rapidly. You’ll help us craft, run, and validate experiments that will ultimately lead to a wildly successful and delightful product. You’ll be challenged to take a complex problem space and create a user experience that feels approachable and easy to use.

What you'll be doing:
Serve as a customer advocate, ensuring that Rally's software offerings are useful, usable, and desirable.
Work closely with product marketing, product management, product development, and Rally's users.
Drive the product design process; from conceptualization, user interviews, interaction design, implementation, and usability testing.
Provide highly usable and relevant design recommendations to the development teams and work with them to achieve goals.
5+ years experience in a user experience or human factors role.
Passionate about co-creating innovative ideas with the development team
Comfortable making evidence-based decisions and validating hypotheses with experimental data
Excited about revolutionizing the world of Portfolio Management
Strong creative, conceptual and problem-solving skills that translate conceptual ideas (business needs and user goals) into interaction and design solutions, incorporating constructive design feedback from internal stakeholders and users
Mastery of user centered design principles and practices.
Mastery of interaction design and information architecture disciplines, with awareness of trends and best practices in UX.
Mastery of creating low and high fidelity design mockups, wireframes, and story boards.
Appreciation and critical eye for visual design and aesthetics, detail and accuracy.
Self-starter that is able to work both independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and, listening) to explain and negotiate design solutions to key stakeholders.
Excellent organization skills to work in a fast-paced, collaborative and fluid work environment, and define clear objectives and success metrics for every project.
BA/BS or MA/MS degree preferred in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field or demonstrated comparable experience designing software products.
Preferred Additional Experience:
Experience designing for web applications.
Comfortable conducting quantitative and qualitative usability testing.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Visio/OmniGraffle, Balsamiq, usability testing tools.
Knowledge of international and accessibility (508 compliance) design considerations.
Familiarity and passion in Lean Startup and Customer Development research and validation methodologies.
Participated in a team practicing agile, kanban, or lean development methodologies.
Experience in Portfolio Management.
