Interested in using WordPress or just need a refresher? This is the workshop for you. This is an introduction to using WordPress for complete beginners.

This is a hands-on workshop, so bring your laptop. You’ll be working on a live sandbox site where you can create and edit content in a safe environment building skills you can take back to your WordPress website.

  • How to log in
  • Overview of the Admin area
  • Overview of Themes
  • Overview of Plugins
  • Widget areas - what they are and how to edit them
  • Creating your first blog post
  • Creating a new page
  • Adding the new page to your navigation menu
  • Editing content
  • Adding images to your posts and pages
  • Maintaining your WordPress website
  • And more

Your instructor is Kelli Wise. She has been using WordPress to build websites for over 10 years. She is a WordPress web designer and educator working to help small business owners and nonprofits be successful on the web. She is active in her local WordPress community and a regular speaker at meetups and WordCamps. Before becoming a web developer, Kelli was an electrical engineer designing hardware for computers. This event is on Sunday, October 13th at the Downtown Seattle Library, 4th Floor, Room 1, from 1pm to 4pm.
