TRAFFIC ALERT - SEVERAL KEY STREETS IN ANNAPOLIS AND EASTPORT WILL BE CLOSED STARTING AT 5:00 PM. FULL DETAILS ON THE LINK BELOW. I'LL BE WALKING TO THE CONCERT FROM THE RAMS HEAD TAVERN EVENT.
Come celebrate July 4th in Eastport starting with a rock concert by Classic Case at the Annapolis Maritime Museum from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. The concert is "free", but they ask for a $10 donation to the museum. Beer, wine, signature cocktails, and food will be available for purchase. Bring a picnic and a blanket or lawn chairs for seating, but no outside alcohol or glass containers are allowed. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside the Museum.
After the concert, we can wander over to the Spa Creek waterfront to watch the Annapolis city fireworks display starting around 9:15 pm. This is the same area near the Chart House restaurant where we saw the Christmas Boat Parade last December.
Below is the Maritime Museum's description of its summer concert series. Full details and the schedule of performers are available on its website.
Enjoy seven weeks of folk, classic rock, soul, psychedelic, funk, bluegrass, country, jazz standards, Hawaiian swing, island music, boogie-woogie, blues, and swing on the beach!
The series will continue with an eclectic mix of musical genres in Cap’n Herbie Sadler Waterman’s Park on the Museum campus, with the incomparable view of the Chesapeake Bay as the backdrop.
The Museum is a 20-minute stroll or a fun and inexpensive water-taxi ride from City Dock. Boaters who are Museum members may dock for free at the Museum’s piers while attending the concerts on a space-available basis.
The Museum will provide beer, wine and soft drinks for a minimal donation, and take-out is available from several nearby Eastport restaurants and eateries, including Wild Country Seafood, the Leeward Café, Davis’ Pub and the Boatyard Bar & Grill. Picnics are welcome but bringing alcoholic beverages onto Museum property is prohibited as are glass containers of any type. Please bring a blanket or lawn chairs for seating during the concert.
Admission is free, thanks to the support of Museum members, the City of Annapolis, the Eastport Civic Association, Land Shark Beer, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. However, a suggested donation of $10 per person is greatly appreciated.
In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be moved inside the McNasby Oyster Company building, the Museum’s headquarters.
Holiday Traffic Alert for Annapolis
The City of Annapolis will be having its July 4th parade down Main St. to the City Dock starting at 6:30 pm. Following the parade, the USNA band will play a free concert at the City Dock area prior to the fireworks. Roads in downtown historic Annapolis and Eastport will be closed for the parade and fireworks, so avoid trying to drive in those areas.
Take the Aris T. Allen Exit 22 to get on Forest Drive to reach the Eastport area. Parking will be crowded on the streets of Eastport, so be prepared to walk several blocks to the concert. The Eastport shopping center on Bay Ridge Drive is outside the street closure area. Walking to the Maritime Museum from there is about 6 blocks.
After the concert, it's an easy walk from the Maritime Museum to see the fireworks. Eastport is a fun area to explore, so the walking part won't be a bummer. It just adds to the joy of hanging out in a cool historic neighborhood where everything is close and people have a good time.
This event will occur rain or shine because we don't postpone the July 4th holiday! Call Jake at[masked] if you need to find us.
I hope to see you there!
