Friday Night Live! - Jimmy Buffett Cover Band

This Friday Night Live! concert in Herndon is for the Parrot Head that exists in all of us. Hey, we all want to live in Margaritaville sometimes!

This is a FREE concert that's open to the public. Lots of great Jimmy Buffet music for us to sing along (we know ALL the songs), as well as good food, beverages, and dancing to get people moving and happy in a welcoming outdoor venue right next to the W&OD trail.

The Concert

The concert will feature B2B, described in the program as follows:

B2B is a Jimmy Buffett Tribute band located in Richmond, Virginia. Most of the band members are also long standing members of the Parrot Head Club of Richmond. B2B's main musical inspiration, of course, is Jimmy Buffett, but they also play a wide variety of music that ranges from The Beatles to Kenny Chesney. With B2B, you will find yourself "wasting away in Margaritaville"...

Our fun group has done several of the Herndon concerts, and we always have a great time listening to the bands, hanging out, and trying to keep our balance while dancing on the hillside. Lots of smiles while greeting friends and meeting new people...

When you arrive, look for a chunk of hillside populated by Second Half Rally people having a good time. Go on up and introduce yourself, and then join the fun!

The band usually begins around 6:30 pm and the concert ends at 10 pm. There are food vendors selling burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and other festival food, as well as beer and wine.

You can bring your own picnic, but no outside alcoholic beverages are allowed. No open containers either. They do check coolers when you enter, but this is not a security-heavy event at all. The volunteer staff are friendly locals and very helpful. Everybody is in the spirit of having a good time, so it's a perfect situation for folks like us...

There is plenty of free parking for this event at the town's municipal lot off Elden Street, and all the places we go are within a block or two of easy walking from the concert area.

After the Concert at Jimmy's and O'Sullivan's

After the concert, we'll walk a block to check out Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern or O’Sullivans Irish Pub for food, drinks, music, dancing, and more of a good time. Both restaurants are well-known in the Herndon area as cool places to hang out.

Our group's standard procedure in restaurants is to infiltrate them as individual customers so we get faster service and separate checks. Then we can mix and mingle without the hassles of finding large group seating and getting an automatic 18% tip added to a single gigantic bill. Figuring out who owes what and paying each share at the end of the evening is an unpleasant chore that detracts from having fun at our group meetups.

Another reason we never make advance group reservations is that many restaurants freak out when they hear we're bringing 20-40 people. They often try to put our group in a separate room or table area, which prevents us from enjoying the ambience and fun that individual customers receive.

So just sit down and order what you want when you enter. Don't worry about trying to find room for all of us at once. Everybody will get in and have a good time. We always do...

Meetup Details

The Friday Night Live! concert is an outdoor event that depends upon good weather, although the sponsors say they don't cancel due to bad weather forecasts. So check back here on the day of the event if the weather looks doubtful. If our group needs to change plans or cancel, Jeff will send out an email to participants before 4 pm on Friday.
