This is yet another terrific outdoor event in Eastport. Some of us went last year and really enjoyed sitting out on a dock in the cold and dark watching the brightly lighted boat parade. Much creativity, a nice crowd, and very well done. As our group knows, hanging out in Eastport by the water is always a good time...
Christmas Lights Boat Parade
The Christmas Lights Boat Parade is sponsored by the Eastport Yacht Club, which describes it as follows:
Spa Creek in Eastport
Date: Saturday, December 8, 2012
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Every year on the second Saturday in December, magic happens on the water of the Annapolis Harbor...boats suddenly appear out of the cold winter night illuminated with thousands of colored lights and crewed by jolly revelers. Families and friends gather at their favorite viewing spots along the waterfront to see this yearly spectacle and to celebrate the holiday season together. The Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade is one of Annapolis' signature events, and we invite you to join us as a participant or a spectator cheering on all the decorated boats and their crews.

Meetup Place and Overflow Option
The boat parade starts at 6:00 pm, so we'll first gather at 4:00 pm to share some Christmas cheer and refreshments at the Boatyard Bar & Grill. It's a fun casual place that's conveniently located just two blocks away from our favorite viewing area on Spa Creek where the parade will happen. Parking is available on neighborhood streets.
Full details, location, and reviews of the Boatyard Bar & Grill are available on Yelp:
A lot of people have signed up for this event. If you can't get into the bar at the Boatyard Bar & Grill, go two blocks up Severn Street to the Rockfish at the corner of 4th Street and Severn Street. It's a very comfy bar/restaurant that's large and very similar to the Boatyard bar.
The Rockfish is positioned by the Spa Creek bridge where many people will be watching the Christmas boat lights parade, so you'll be right near the action. And you'll also be near those of us at the Boatyard bar if you want to join us for viewing the boat parade. Details below:
Viewing the Boat Parade
Around 5:30 pm, we'll head a couple of blocks over to the dock area by the Annapolis Canoe & Kayak store where our group went kayaking last June. Follow Severn Ave. to 3rd Street at the ACK store and walk one block down to the Spa Creek docks. There are several long piers there where people gather to watch the parade. If you miss us at the Boatyard Bar & Grill, look for us there.
We'll look for a good space with a nice view of Spa Creek and the passing boats. Be sure to bring a folding chair, a flashlight, and an invigorating beverage to help you stay warm. Rev. Jake may even bring some holiday music to enhance our experience...
