Announcing a new Meetup for Secular Bible Study!

What: Homosexuality & The Bible

When: Tuesday, August 10,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Trinity United Methodist Church
2511 Taylor Street NE
Minneapolis, MN 44418

At the heart of the debate over homosexuality and Christian Ethics is The Big Question: "What does The Bible say -- or NOT say -- about homosexuality?"

To approach this question, SBS attendees, guided by Speaker-Moderator John Gustav-Wrathall, Adjunct Professor of United Theological Seminary, will seek the question's historical context -- to more broadly understand biblical sexual ethics, as well as biblical views of gender relations and marriage, both in Old Testament times as well as in the Common (New Testament) Era.

John will also guide SBS's inquiry into the history of sexuality, addressing the contentious issue of whether, or how, homosexuality was known or understood in the biblical world.

Once SBS has explored its historical context, we will tackle the specific texts of The Bible typically read to concern homosexuality, discussing how its teachings intersect with today's LGBT civil rights movement.

Don't miss what is claimed as the last frontier of human rights and religious progress: Homosexuality & The Bible!
