Hi Hiking Freethinkers,
Weather permitting; there will be a hike on Sunday, Dec. 23rd. There will be 3 hikes from which to choose.
Hike 1) Red Rocks, there are several trails from which to choose. They are all relatively easy trails.
Hike 2) Aiken Canyon, a well-maintained, four-mile-loop hiking trail begins at the entrance. An additional 3/4 mile trail branches off from the loop and makes its way through the canyon. There is a total of 410 ft. elevation gain. About 16 miles south of Colorado Springs, about 20 miles north of highway 50 just off highway 115. I consider this a moderately easy hike. We will carpool from the park-n-ride under Interstate 25 between Tejon and Nevada.
Hike 3) Columbine Trail, which starts from the Starsmore Center and heads west towards Helen Hunt Falls in Cheyenne Canyon. I consider this an intermediate level hike, with 6.52 miles round-trip distance. The max. elevation is 7368 ft., min. elevation is 6298 ft., elevation gain 1070 ft. (not counting the ups and downs of 100 to 200 ft. each, about 3 of them).
p.s. If you vote for a hike and that is the one selected, you are expected to attend. If you do not, your vote will count less in the future.
