Participate with your therapy dog in a great program in the schools and libraries in Wake County where kids read to dogs. We have over 20 reading opportunities each month and always need therapy dogs and their handlers to help out. Please note, your dog must have pet therapy certification from a nationally recognized pet therapy group to participate.

Want to attend?

Regularly scheduled reading session at Hill Street Homework Haven on the 4th Monday of the month at 4:30 pm. This is an after school program with some struggling readers that really need help. Right now only about 10 - 12 kids involved, but it will be growing.

Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to your session so that your dog can meet, greet and sniff the other dogs attending. Read more

      “I am so excited to find this group. I have a four year old Bichon Frise named Lucy. She has her pet therapy certification from TDI. She has been doing visits in nursing homes but she has also done school and library visits. She is great with kids.”

      “Hi Mary..... I am one of the handlers for See Spot Read, at Underwood tomorrow. They would like us to be checked in at 1pm so we/dogs can be settled and ready for children at 1:15. I plan to be at the school flag pole a few minutes before 1 to meet you and Tracy.....there will be 3 dogs and the school is looking forward to seeing us. I've been by the school to learn where things are, parking etc. Let me know if you need any info. See you tomorrow!”
