The next meetup will be held on August 4, at the offices of Cerebra. They have generously agreed to make their offices available! 2714 Loker Ave W, suite 100, Carlsbad, CA 92010. 5:30 p.m. I will be going down to IJCAI (International conference for Artificial Intelliegence!) in Pasadena this week, and we will be providing video coverage of some of the events. The robotics and wireless control demonstrations, the standard exhibits and others. The meeting is on a tuesday (aug 4) so there should be no traffic as a result of the races that day, (tuesday is an off day!) The focus will be on commercializable applications emerging from this field, which is why we will be focussing primarily on exhibits. It should be really interesting. I will send out more specifics in terms of topics in the near future! There will be a video competition:, robotics demos, wireless control, standard exhibits, etc! Should be interesting! More specifics to follow!! BTW - IJCAI url for those interested is: We will also take a quick look at the impact web 3.0 and other innovative technologies can have on the current economy I also received a comment from the head of the EU - Stefano Bartolo stating "yes, I've been following the Obama's administration push towards interoperable government data repositories. In the EU the same is happening with the appointment of Tim Berners Lee as special consultant to the UK government. Other countries may follow. My interest is in trying to understand what the technology hurdles are and what kind of R&D funding would best help overcoming them." I plan on visiting them in the near future, and all input is welcome! regards Barbara Starr

Dynamic, cutting edge group. Diverse views and background, but all see the real benefits to be derived in the near future. Barbara did her work on the presentation, when identifying some niche apps that fit into the future business model that the Semantic Web will fit into. Steve did a great job moderating, while letting attendees speak their minds.
