Colgan Creek

This trail is pretty close to the corner of Todd and Stony Point Roads. The trailhead starts just past the restaurant on Stony Point Road and there is pretty good parking along the road there.

This is a pretty flat, wide trail along the creek. Even though the time has changed  I doubt it will be very dark...but you might want to consider bringing a flash light just in case.

Dogs are welcome on this hike but please do keep them on a short leash.

I’m sorry that not everyone enjoyed the walk. However, SWAG is not a professional hiking group, nor have we ever claimed to be. We are a group of people that have come together to enjoy the beauty located right here in our own back yards. We provide general directions to the trailhead however they are adequate enough to find the trailhead. We do not give the exact distances of the hikes, as many times we may wander off the initial path or want to continue farther, or even take a left turn instead of the usual right. We generally do not post the type of trail as many times I honestly cannot recall what it is or may not even know as we are frequently trying new paths. In the case of the walk on Thursday the description did indicate the trailhead was north of the parking lot on Stony Point. I am also aware that many people enjoy this trail. They enjoy the animals that are seen along the way as well as some of the old barns and other structures. (continued)

(continuation) Again this is not a professional hiking group. We do not have professional leaders. And we do not, and have never, indicated that we are professionals. Once again we are only a group of individuals, generally over 50, that enjoy walking and exploring the various trails that Sonoma County has been gracious enough to provide us. If you need more information than is provided on any of the hikes posted, www.WHATEVER is usually a good reference.

Part of the fun of hiking with this group is in exploring new trails and going where we've never gone before! We've hiked Foothill many times~ and never taken the same path twice!

I didn't have any problem finding the trailhead, it was marked. It was a perfect, short, walk. One side was paved, the other side of the creek was dirt/

This was to be my first hike with SWAG. I was among the 3 people who wandered for 20 minutes looking for the trailhead, only to find that the others had left by the time we found it. I also would like to have been informed that the trail was paved, as I try to avoid paved trails because they are hard on my knees.

Hi Guma. Sorry that you were not able to find the trailhead. It was a bit challenging for me,too, my first time on it. You can usually find the group standing nearby, which is what we did until 6:00. Also, one side was paved while the other side was gravel. We went down one side and up the other. Because i am directionally challenged, i usually take a look at the area on google maps. Hope to see you next Monday evening!

Nice little walk with JoAnn and Nancy, and their pups. we waited at the trailhead for several minutes for the others. Roger, I did a uturn in the restaurant parking lot but did not see any of you waiting there.

It would be helpful if clearer on where trail head is ie. 25 yards north of restaurant. Three of us waited to meet up in the parking lot, when we finally found the trail head the others had gone. Also think there must be more scenic trails than through the back of small farms with no trees.
