Renowned gluten-free baker and owner of Dole Lou Bakery here in Seattle has offered to teach a baking class and hold a baking Q & A for our group! Join us as we learn how to make gluten-free goodies from scratch. Bring a list of your most pressing baking questions to have the mysteries revealed and the conundrums quashed.

What would people like to learn? We can make up to five gluten free recipes, and I would like to teach things that people are interested in. Crackers is on the list! Other menu possibilities: baguette (dairy free), almond cake (grain free), cookies. Please chime in with what you would like to learn, and we'll collectively come up with a menu!

I'll be bringing the baking ingredients and printed handouts for everyone, but will need others to help with menu items. For example, if you want sandwiches made from the baguette, bring sandwich fixings to share! Or bring hummus or spinach dip for the crackers! The ideas are endless...

This will be in conjunction with an allergy-free food drive for Northwest Harvest food bank, so please bring gluten-free, peanut-free nonperishable food items. Foods highest in nutritional density tend to be the least processed foods, plus they need foods that are the lowest saturated fats and refined carbohydrates (sugar, white flour). A few ideas are brown rice, sunflower butter, whole grain bread mixes, brown rice pasta, oats, cornmeal, oat cereals/oatmeal (check the label for wheat, rye, barley & malt), canned fruits (in juice) & vegetables, canned chili, and powdered soy milk. Trader Joe's and Costco are excellent places for some of these items.

I'm looking forward to this! Please join us.
