Frugal Hacking a Networked Home Monitor

Details
Join us as Peter Antonvich, one of our group members, takes us through his journey of putting together an affordable home monitoring system that even Clark Howard would be proud of.
Adventures of putting together a Home Monitoring system using simple circuits, off the shelf hardware both hacked and open sourced and linking it all together with a few bits of code. Things being monitored are outdoor weather; air quality; electric, water and gas utilities; HVAC system and the alarm system. This is all being done with sensors and off the shelf hardware linked to Arduino and Network Attached Devices. Data is pushed out to the cloud and/or provides alerts via email and iOS notifications. The talk includes a few highlights of interesting data observations – accuracy, what does a water leak look like, how much does outdoor lighting cost, and is it time to call the HVAC guy for service.
